Stewart Regan wants goal detector

SFA chief executive Stewart Regan has echoed calls for the introduction of goal-line technology in the aftermath of Wednesday’s Old Firm clash.

The debate has resurfaced after Lee Wallace saw his sixth-minute header spectacularly clawed from the goal-line by Celtic keeper Fraser Forster.

Rangers boss Ally McCoist, who ultimately saw his side succumb to a 1-0 defeat, claimed the ball had crossed the line, despite several replays proving inconclusive.

Regan believes cameras may have clarified whether the ball had entirely crossed the whole of the line.

He wrote: “Another example where goal-line technology would have been useful. Test results will be discussed at IFAB meeting in March.”

The SFA chief was referring to trials carried out by an independent authority employed by Fifa, with a final decision is expected to be made in July.
