Steve Clarke states interest in Celtic job

Former West Brom manager and Scotland international defender Steve Clarke has stated his interest in the manager's job at Celtic.

Clarke has been out of management after being sacked by Reading in December last year.

The Parkhead club are hunting for a new head coach after Ronny Deila decided to step aside at the end of the season.

Celtic look certain to lift their fifth consecutive Ladbrokes Premiership title, though disappointing performance in both the domestic cups and European competition persuaded Deila to tender his resignation.

Michael O’Neill, David Moyes and Neil Lennon have all been linked with taking the job, and Clarke threw his hat in the ring when speaking on Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday programme.

He said: “Celtic is a massive club and anybody that comes from the west coast of Scotland understands the size.”

“Next year will be fantastic with Rangers back in the top flight.

“It’s a big job and Celtic I’m sure have it in their own mind who they want to go after and who they want to target and we should just let Celtic get on with their business.

“If they want to give me a call, it would be nice.”
