Stakes are high as Hibs face Spartans

It HAS been a difficult few weeks for Spartans and Hibs Ladies with both clubs suffering heavy defeats, but they aim to turnaround those recent disappointments when they come face-to-face tomorrow.

The battle for second place in the Scottish Women’s Premier League appears to be going to the wire and the outcome of tomorrow’s encounter at Spartans Academy (kick-off 1pm) could prove pivotal.

Spartans head coach Debbi McCulloch said: “After losing our last two games and even though we performed extremely well against Celtic in the cup, we need to pick up points to climb the table.”

Hibs boss Willie Kirk is confident his side will be ready for the challenge of their nearest rivals and earning the derby bragging rights is all the motivation they need. “These are the games everyone wants to be involved in and the girls are all desperate to show we are the top team in the city.”

Meanwhile, Hutchison Vale have scored 16 goals in just three post-split fixtures and take on Falkirk Ladies at Stirling University (kick-off 4pm).
