SPL Fanzone: Motherwell

Motherwell were dealt a bad deal by the compliance officer last week but the moaning from club and fans alike has been disappointing. Yes, the ban handed to Michael Higdon was farcical but one bad decision doesn’t mean the whole process is flawed.

We have had trial by television for some time but now it is clear exactly who is making the decisions about who is pulled up. Not only that, divers are now named, shamed and punished when previously they were the subject of only indignation.

The process lasts no more than a few days from start to finish and punishment is handed out immediately. Everyone, Motherwell included, knew what they were getting with the compliance officer and, broadly speaking, the appointment has been a positive introduction to Scottish football.
