SPL Fanzone: Motherwell

Football returned to Fir Park after a summer of definitely mixed emotions. While we had the Champions League to anticipate, we also had to deal with massive uncertainty surrounding our finances because of the Rangers saga. This has thrown up an interesting difference of opinion among fans over how Motherwell have approached things.

We played down expectations surrounding our European chances and pleaded poverty in the transfer market. No one was suggesting we invest hundreds of thousands pounds of borrowed money but Motherwell have been overachieving for years yet seem to have picked up no extra self-confidence. We still have one more crack at Europe to come and a few weeks to bolster our weak squad – this could yet be another season to remember.
