SPL Fanzone: Kilmarnock

AS CHEEKILY predicted last week, it looks like we were indeed saving our A game for Hampden!

A cup win is always more sweet for supporters from the so-called “wee” teams and it certainly feels that we notched a victory for the underdogs of Scottish football on Sunday. In these times of austerity, the League Cup win was a truly remarkable achievement and, on behalf of the fans, I give huge thanks to King Kenny (yes, he has now been afforded that accolade around these parts), the players, the chairman and everyone at the club.

Of course, the tragic news of the death of Liam Kelly’s father just after full-time turned the whole experience into a bittersweet one for all concerned. We are all devastated by Liam’s loss and hope he can find comfort in the condolences from all Killie fans and the fact that his dad’s final moments were probably some of his proudest as a father. RIP Jack Kelly.
