SPL Fanzone: Dundee United

UNITED fans turned out in numbers on Saturday to support the team in their Scottish Cup tie against Airdrie and the players certainly didn’t disappoint.

With six goals and Johnny Russell scoring three, you would expect the praise to be lavished upon him however it was the scorer of the first goal, John Rankin who deserves a bit of attention. It was his first goal of a season in which he has been one of United’s top performers. He is becoming a fans favourite despite the fact that there were a few eyebrows raised when United signed the former Hibs man.

Scott Allan is away to West Bromwich Albion and there are lessons to be learned Hopefully the club will ensure that the batch of quality young players coming through are here for the foreseeable future at least.
