Spartans Juniors 0-1 Fauldhouse United: Mystery scorer wins it for Fauldhouse

THE Fife and Lothians Cup tie, one of only two East Juniors matches to survive the weather, was decided by a goal so scrappy that no-one could identify the scorer.

In a match which looked destined to go to penalty kicks, Fauldhouse winger Gary Shanks brought out a super save from Murray Jackson after five minutes but the main talking point was the dismissal of James Deans after half an hour leaving the visitors with ten men.

The only goal came in the second half when, following a mad scramble in the six-yard box with goalkeeper Jackson saving twice, the referee adjudged the ball to have crossed the line.
