Senior round-up: Whitehill Welfare put five past Eyemouth

Lawson in the Welfare goal was had no chance when Lough finished off a well-worked goal to open the scoring on 21 minutes.

Whitehill were level on the half hour when Gormley bravely followed in a Mutch parry, only for Eyemouth to regain their lead when a McGlashan back pass deceived Lawson and squirmed into the net just before the break. The game was to turn though on 60 minutes with the introduction of super sub Wayne McIntosh. He levelled on 70 minutes, back-heeling in a Manson cross, before slotting Welfare in front for the first time five minutes later. On 82 minutes Manson played a one- two with Jordan Hall and fired in a fourth before McIntosh bundled in for his hat-trick.

Craigroyston 0 - 2 Stirling University

The students took an early lead when Paul Sludden rounded Stuart Addison and shot into an empty net. Craigroyston almost equalised but Kevin Walker saved well from Steven Moncur as Stirling led at the interval. Moncur had another chance to level the match, but he was unable to get his shot over Walker, and Stirling took advantage of this let-off minutes later when they doubled their lead – Jason Atkins being left unmarked to head in from a corner. The closest Craigroyston came to a consolation goal came in injury time when Walker again saved well to deny Moncur.

Easthouses Lily 1 - 4Lothian Thistle HV

Lothian took the lead in the 28th minute, with Craig Stevenson lofting a 20-yard free kick past Young and into the far corner of the net. The home side equalised on the stroke of half-time. Shields gathered up a throw in at the left touchline and hoisted a delivery over the visitors’ back line, allowing Ryan McQueenie to nip in unchallenged and convert from a tight angle. The visitors regained the lead in the 62nd minute when Allan McDonaugh chipped the keeper from just inside the area, and seven minutes later McDonaugh released Stevenson, who steered the ball into the net to give Lothian a valuable cushion. McColl forced an Easthouses own goal in the final minute.

Duns 5 - 2 Burntisland Shipyard

In an open and attacking match it was Duns who converted most chances, with Devaney giving the home team the lead with a speculative shot in the tenth minute. Graham doubled the lead in the 22nd minute and a Weatherburn strike gave Duns what seemed an unassailable 3-0 half-time advantage. As like last week, the Shipyard fought back and strikes from Ferrier and Hamilton had the visitors back in the game. However, when Devaney scored his second there was no way back for the Shipyard and a Waddell goal in the 79th minute completed the scoring.

Mike McKinnon’s team had stormed into a two-goal lead inside the opening half hour with strikes from Michael Holness and Johnny Watt, but Berwick Reserves bounced back after the break. Jonathan Fairbairn pulled a goal back on 55 minutes with a low shot beyond John Dodds and just three minutes later, substitute Dean Carse burst through the defence to see his shot blocked by Dodds, with Josh Morris following up to find the net. Vale of Leithen 2 - 3 Gretna 2008

Jerry Draper gave Vale the lead in the 42nd minute, superbly curling a free kick into the net from 25 yards, but the teams went in at the break level when Chris Gordon brought down Adam Main in the area and captain Dean Rea stepped up to send Vale keeper Sinclair Inglis the wrong way from the spot in added time. The visitors increased their lead around the hour mark when Dean Armstrong capitalised on a couple of defensive errors to hit a double within a minute and a half to make it 3-1. Danny Noon pulled one back for Vale in the 71st minute and only a save by Gretna keeper Kyle Townsley from the feet of Kayne Paterson in injury time prevented the game from going to extra time.
