Second Division: Queen of the South stretch lead

Queen of the South moved 18 points clear at the top.

Derek Young gave them the lead midway through the first half Chris Mitchell curled home the second on the stroke of half-time but Stenhousemuir pulled a goal back through Mark Corcoran.

Albion Rovers 0, Arbroath 1

Arbroath made the all-important breakthrough when Colin Hamilton scored with a left-foot shot ten minutes from the break.

Scott Sally was later denied by Scott Morrison and Robbie Winters also went close, but Arbroath held on to keep their play-off hopes alive.

Alloa Athletic 2, Ayr United 2

Ben Gordon hit a last-minute equaliser to extend Alloa’s unbeaten home record.

Ayr took the lead through Liam Buchanan, who was later sent off. Neil McGregor then headed a second.

Mitch Megginson pulled a goal back for Alloa before Gordon struck.

East Fife 1, Forfar Athletic 2

A CHRIS Templeman double was enough to see off East Fife. The striker put Forfar ahead with a left-foot strike in the 33rd minute.

Templeman doubled Forfar’s advantage with a left-foot volley in the 71st minute before Scott McBride scored a late penalty for the Fifers.
