Nicky Clark, with his 31st of the season, broke the deadlock, blasting the ball home.

Kevin Cawley equalised with a header after 56 minutes as Alloa hit back.

But Ryan McGuffie had the final say with a spot-kick to settle it.

Brechin City 2, Ayr United 1

Brechin took the lead when Derek Carcary took advantage of a long through ball from Gary Fusco after 15 minutes. Alan Trouten headed a second from David McKenna’s cross.

Liam Buchanan pulled a goal back after an hour, but Neil McGregor was then sent off to leave Ayr short.
