Second Division: Alloa secure place in play-offs

Alloa booked their play-off spot with this win.

Kevin Cawley was not far away when he shot narrowly wide midway through the first half and his next effort was tipped over by Darren Hill. Cawley found the net in the opening minute of the second half.

Queen of the South 2, Stranraer 0

David Mitchell did well to save a Michael Paton header midway through the first half before Kevin Holt lashed the ball home from close range after 31 minutes.

Nicky Clark sealed the win with his 35th goal of the season after 76 minutes.

Brechin City 2, Arbroath 0

Arbroath had the better of the first half – Michael Andrews tipping over a Paul Sheerin shot and then doing well to block a Graham Bayne header. Andy Jackson headed Brechin in front after 63 minutes from David McKenna’s cross and Gerry McLauchlan scored the second.

Albion Rovers 1, Ayr United 3

Michael Moffat gave Ayr a 30th-minute lead when he hooked the ball past Matt McGinley.

Liam Buchanan doubled their advantage before half-time. Chris Dallas pulled a goal back early in the second half but Scott McLaughlin scored Ayr’s third

East Fife 1, Stenhousemuir 2

Stenhousemuir took the lead when Scott Buist netted two minutes from the break.

John Gemmell added the second with a right-foot shot after the break but Scott McBride pulled a goal back before Darren McCormack was sent off.
