School’s football: South-East quintet in Scottish squad

FIVE members of the South-East team that won the Under-15 Inter Regional Cup last month have been included in the 18-strong girls squad for the Lloyds TSB Scotland Internationals.

Brogan Anderson (Hawick High School), Amy Lynch (Currie High School), Cailin Michie (Boroughmuir High School), Lia Tweedie (Beeslack High School) and Alyshia Walker (Bathgate Academy) make up the final 18 for the annual Bob Docherty Tournament in Dublin from 3-5 April.

Scotland will face Wales, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland plus the two new teams to the event, England and the Netherlands.

The Scots will then host England at Toryglen on 21 April for the second Lloyds TSB Cup in a re-run of last year’s historic fixture which saw the two teams face each other for the very first time at Under-15 level.

It was at a final trials at Ravenscraig that the original squad of 36 was whittled down to 18.

Meanwhile, with the quarter-finals completed, the draw has been made for the semi-finals of the boys’ Under-15 National Trophy. Forth Valley face Fife, and Lanarkshire take on Edinburgh.
