SOUTHAMPTON striker Sam Gallagher has chosen to play for England over Scotland, it has emerged.
The 18-year-old has featured for Scotland’s U19 team, managed by Ricky Sbragia, and Billy Stark’s U21 side. The Devon-born striker was pegged as a future senior international for Scotland, having also broken through to the Southampton first team this season.
However, the 6ft 4in frontman has opted to play for the country of his birth if selected.
He has reportedly asked the Scotland set-up not to pick him for future internationals as he now only wants to be considered for England duty.
