McCoist eyes double swoop

ALLY McCoist is ready to dive in to the transfer market for the first time as Rangers manager by snapping up David Goodwillie and Carlos Cuellar (Daily Record).

The new Ibrox boss was in talks with Dundee United yesterday to discuss a move for Stirling-born Goodwillie and held late night discussions with Aston Villa about bringing Cuellar back for a second stint at the club. The pair would command combined fees of around 3.5 million.

Celtic want to make Dani a Bhoy

DEPORTIVO la Coruna goalkeeper Dani Aranzubi could be heading for Celtic in a 2.5 million deal (Daily Express).

Neil Lennon is set to turn his attention to the 31-year-old former international after failing in bids to bring either Shay Given or Frazer Foster north.

Meanwhile, Gordon Strachan believes Neil Lennon can take Celtic into an era of sustained success after signing a new deal with the club. "The fact that Neil has his new deal sorted is not just great news for everyone at the club," he tells the Daily Record. "Celtic will come back even stronger next year to take the challenge to Rangers."

Ranger vs Rangers

RANGERS chief executive Martin Bain is to take the club to court after being suspended from his post (The Scotsman).

"It was not pleasant for me or my family to read in newspapers that I had been replaced and never to return to the club I have served with pride," said Bain.

"However I will now hand matters over to my legal advisers. Those responsible will have the opportunity to explain what they have done and why in court."

CELTIC captain Scott Brown says he has no idea why he has been linked with a move to Turkish side Bursaspor.
