King company fined

For the second time in the space of a week Dave King finds himself at the heart of financial breaches after his South African company Micromega Holdings Limited was fined £64,000 for breaching market regulations. King was found last week to have breached rules by the Takeover Appeal Board for his 2015 takeover of Rangers. (Daily Record)

Ferguson and Brown in mix for Rangers role

Former Rangers heroes Barry Ferguson and John Brown are in contention to become No.3 to Pedro Caixinha in the Ibrox management structure. Ferguson is favourite to land the role and is thought to have met Caixinha yesterday for informal talks. Brown has been recommended to the Portuguese head coach by members of the Rangers board who are close to the nine-in-a-row defender. (Scottish Sun)

Sunderland want Cummings

Jason Cummings is a target of English Premier League side Sunderland, who would be willing to pay £2million for the young striker. Black Cats boss David Moyes recently watched the 21-year-old in action during the victory over Dundee United. Despite Cummings being sent off for a deliberate handball, Moyes was impressed enough with the player, who netted the game’s only goal. (The Herald)

Rangers to blame for Barton mess

Joey Barton’s Burnley team-mate Scott Arfield has blamed Rangers for the saga that eventually led to the veteran midfielder leaving Ibrox just months into his two-year deal. The ex-Falkirk star believes members of the Ibrox dressing room couldn’t deal with justifiable criticism in the wake of Celtic’s 5-1 win over Rangers earlier in the season. (Daily Mail)

Struna to receive contract extension

Hearts want to sign right-back Andraz Struna on a long-term deal and install him as Callum Paterson’s permanent replacement. The Slovenian internationalist has impressed since arriving in Scotland in January and Tynecastle officials hope he will now agree to a longer stay. Paterson has confirmed his desire to leave Hearts later this year once he recovers from knee ligament damage. (Evening News)

Strachan hopes for crowd boost

Gordon Strachan is hoping a late surge from the Tartan Army will boost the gate at Easter Road for the visit of Canada tomorrow night. It was reported that only around 5000 tickets have been sold for the challenge match which will serve as a warm-up for the crunch 2018 World Cup qualifier against Slovenia at Hampden Park on Sunday. Strachan, who is considering naming his side 24 hours in advance, is looking for a walk-up crowd on the night to bolster the numbers against a team ranked 117 in the world. (Evening News)
