Penicuik started this Emirates Scottish Junior Cup first-round tie brightly and took the lead in the 11th minute when a curling free kick by Ryan Gay completely deceived Thomson and ended up in the back of the net. The home side equalised on the half hour when Sam Young blasted the ball into the roof of the net after Haldane had parried a Hill free-kick. Sean Paliczka restored the lead for Penicuik but two minutes later it was all square again when Ryan Gibb powered a header past Haldane. In the 55th minute, Chris Grant put Dunbar ahead for the first time. Grant Killin made it 3-3 with a right foot volley in the 66th minute. Five minutes later, Sam Young was allowed to run 30 yards unchallenged to slot home from just inside the box. In the 79th minute Chris Roxburgh saved Penicuik’s blushes with a rocket of a shot.
