Round-up: Luis Suarez nets hat-trick against Eibar
Luis Suarez scored a hat-trick as Barcelona came from behind to defeat Eibar 3-1 yesterday, joining Real Madrid atop the Spanish league standings.
Eibar surprised early on at the Nou Camp with a Borja Baston goal in the tenth minute, but Suarez helped the defending champions rally with goals in the 21st, 48th and 85th minutes.
Barca played the final minutes with ten men after defender Javier Mascherano was sent off. But the straight red card had little impact and Barcelona and Madrid have 21 points each after nine matches. Madrid remained ahead on goal difference after defeating third-place Celta Vigo 3-1 on Saturday.
In Italy, Roma beat Fiorentina 2-1 yesterday to move two points clear of their Tuscan opponents at the top of Serie A.
Former Fiorentina player Mohamed Salah and Gervinho scored in the first half before Khouma Babacar netted a consolation for Fiorentina with almost the last kick of the match.
Salah was sent off two minutes from time after being shown a second yellow card for protesting after his initial booking.
Elsewhere, retired Netherlands international Dirk Kuyt scored his second successive league hat-trick yesterday as Feyenoord beat AZ Alkmaar 3-1 to stay level on points with Ajax at the top of the Eredivisie. Ajax beat Vitesse 3-1 in Arnhem.
