Rotherham back in for Saints’ Stevie May

Rotherham United have renewed their attempts to sign St Johnstone striker Stevie May. However, the English Championship side will have to meet Saints’ £800,000 valuation.

Last night Rotherham manager Steve Evans – a long-time admirer of the prolific Scotland Under-21 forward – revealed the clubs are locked in talks.

Contract talks between May’s representatives and Saints chairman Steve Brown have failed to reach an agreement. That alerted Evans and last night a St Johnstone spokesman said: “We can confirm that Rotherham have made an inquiry about Stevie May and talks are ongoing.”

Evans, who has alternative targets if he is rebuffed again, indicated: “Talks are ongoing between the boards so they have to reach an agreement.”
