Roseburgh tips King to lord over midfield in one of the key tussles

STUART ROSEBURGH is backing Bonnyrigg team-mate Alex King to reign in one of the key tussles in tomorrow’s replay against Newtongrange.

Former Spartans star King had a great battle with Darren Gillon, an old foe, in last weekend’s goalless draw at New Victoria Park.

Now the pair are set to lock horns again and Roseburgh reckons King can come out on top and help Bonnyrigg earn a place in the third-round draw. “Alex is a good player,” said the winger. “He’s strong on the ball and gives us something different as well.”

Recent signing Roseburgh was handed his first start for Bonnyrigg last Saturday, against his old club. “I’ve waited patiently for my chance and only found I was playing when [manager] Max Christie read out the team,” he said.

“A draw was probably a fair result. The conditions made it difficult and hopefully it will be a better game on Saturday. I’m sure there will be another big crowd and hopefully we can come out on top this time.”

Of last weekend’s stalemate, Christie said: “It was one of those games we could have won but also one that we could have lost.”
