Rose win hard-fought battle with ’Burgh

Linlithgow dominated the opening half hour and took a deserved lead in 30 minutes when Roddy McLennan hit the bye line before cutting the ball back to his brother Ruari who tapped in from six yards. Musselburgh fell further behind a couple of minutes before the break. Alan Brown crossed deep from the right back position to Stuart McArthur who headed the ball back to Gordon Herd who slammed it home.

Musselburgh pulled a goal back after the break when Chris King sent over a corner for Paul Currie to power in a header with 12 minutes to play. Chances then started to fall at both ends but it wasn’t until injury time the game was finally settled. Linlithgow sub Tommy Coyne was sent crashing in the box. He dusted himself down before driving home from the spot to score his 100th goal for the club.
