Rose see off St Andrews with early blitz

St Andrews 1Linlithgow Rose 4

League leaders Linlithgow strode into an early lead with two goals in the first 20 minutes. The opener arrived when Steven Manson’s pass released Ruari MacLennan and although
Ryan Sloan stopped his first effort he was powerless to stop the Rose midfielder
following up to net.

Manson claimed the second when he won the ball on the halfway line and progressed to the edge of the box before scoring. When the St Andrews goal arrived it was gift-wrapped by the Rose defence. John Ovenstone and David Hay had a misunderstanding and Kevin Cumming was able to nip
between them, round the keeper and score. The Saints flurry was short-lived as Rose went further ahead when Colin Strickland beat Sloan.
