Renton hits four in Musselburgh success

Carnoustie took the lead after only a minute of play.

A long cross from the right found Scott Gates at the back post and his effort bounced back off Calvin Shand and looped into the net. It took Musselburgh 15 minutes to equalise through Kris Renton. Then just on half time the home side took the lead when Renton found the net from a rebound.

The second half was only five minutes old when Steven Narey wrestled Renton to the ground for a penalty. Renton scored easily for his third. Five minutes later Paul Tansey sent over a perfect cross for Mathu King to head past the keeper. In the 65th minute Carnoustie’s Scott Gates scored a penalty to reduce the deficit. Then with five minutes to go Renton scored his fourth of the game after latching on to a long ball. Carnoustie’s Kevin Milne was sent off for a double booking late on.
