Redknapp thanks legions of well-wishers

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has thanked the people who have wished him well in his recovery from the heart procedure he underwent this week.

Redknapp is recovering at home after having two stents inserted to unblock two coronary arteries on Wednesday.

The 64-year-old was admitted to hospital on Tuesday night after feeling out of breath when running and he missed the club’s Europa League Group A game at Rubin Kazan on Thursday night as a result.

The former West Ham manager is in good spirits after undergoing the procedure and he yesterday expressed his gratitude at the many messages of support he has received. “I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes,” Redknapp told Tottenham’s website. “There are so many lovely people out there and I really appreciate it.”

Redknapp watched Spurs lose to Rubin from his home in Dorset last night and he will now take two weeks off to recover.

Redknapp had claimed before the operation that he would be back at work tomorrow to prepare for tomorrow’s game at Fulham, but he has heeded doctors’ advice and it is understood that he will watch the game at Craven Cottage from home.

The former Portsmouth manager, who travels 125 miles from Dorset to the club’s training base in Chigwell for training, insists he will not rush back.
