Morelos was booked during Sunday’s 2-1 win over Dundee United for a clash with Mark Connolly but video evidence led to retrospective punishment from the Scottish FA.

The striker also misses the weekend’s match with Motherwell after Rangers accepted a two-match ban yesterday, but Steven Gerrard declined to discuss the issue ahead of tonight’s match.

Asked on Premier Sports if he would comment he said: “No, because he’s not here to help us unfortunately, so I’d rather focus on the players who are here to try to help us get to a semi-final.”

Ex-Rangers midfielder and St Mirren manager Alex Rae, Premier Sports’ pundit, added: “I’m not sure Morelos would’ve played on recent form. Itten has come in, scored a fine goal last week and made a little impact at the weekend – he’ll be champing at the bit.”
