Ryan Jack closing in on return as Rangers bid to make history at Motherwell

Rangers hope to be boosted by the return of Ryan Jack this weekend after an absence of almost two months.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who has been troubled by a knee issue for the past couple of years, has missed Rangers’ last 13 games after limping off after 56 minutes of their 4-0 win over his former club Aberdeen at Ibrox on November 22.

But Jack was scheduled to return to full training this week and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will hope to reintroduce the influential Scotland international to his squad as they prepare for Sunday’s Premiership fixture against Motherwell at Fir Park.

Currently 21 points clear of Celtic at the top of the Premiership, Rangers will bid to equal their post-war club record for consecutive top flight wins by making it 16 on the spin against Motherwell, the same number previously achieved under legendary manager Jock Wallace during the 1972-73 season.
