Rangers star Steven Davis pulls out of Northern Ireland squad - no word yet on Aberdeen availability

The Northern Ireland captain has left the squad on the eve of their final Nations League game to fly home.

It is not yet known whether this will impact his availability for Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash with Aberdeen at Ibrox.

The 35-year-old played all 120 minutes of his nation’s extra-time defeat to Slovakia in the Euro 2020 play-offs last Thursday. He was then a second-half substitute in Vienna as Northern Ireland again lost 2-1, this time in the Nations League to Austria.

Ian Baraclough’s side are waiting to discover whether they will have anything to play for on Wednesday evening. Uefa has yet to make a ruling on the Romania v Norway clash which was called off prior to Sunday evening after the visitors were prohibiting from travelling by their health ministry. If Romania are awarded the fixture, as expected, Northern Ireland will be relegated from League B.
