The 22-year-old midfielder is closing in on a move to Orange County SC – the Scottish Premiership league leaders’ partner club in the USA.

Since the deal was struck in December 2019 several players have moved Stateside including Daniel Finlayson – now on loan at St Mirren – and the recently departed Cammy Palmer. Midfielder Barjonas could become the latest today which would signal the end of his time at Rangers with his current contract expiring in the summer.

An academy prospect since joining the club as a child, Barjonas has played nine times for the first-team since 2017 but has also been loaned out to Bury, Raith Rovers and most recently Partick Thistle.

Barjonas is set to hook up with a former Ibrox team-mate Rob Kiernan at the Californian club who sent goalkeeper Aaron Cervantes in the opposite direction to Rangers’ Academy, in October.
