Rangers goal scorer Cedric Itten an injury doubt for Galatasaray Europa League play-off

Cedric Itten fired a double against Motherwell, but the boost has turned to a blow with the Swiss international now a major doubt for tomorrow’s Europa League play-off.

The double-scoring striker suffered a knock in training to add to boss Steven Gerrard's attacking injury list ahead of a vital one-off play-off with Galatasaray.

The Rangers boss has been boosted by the return of both Brandon Barker and Ryan Jack, but losing Itten after a confidence-boosting double at Fir Park would be a blow after a knee injury picked up in training.

Updating the injury situation at Ibrox, Gerrard said: "Joe Aribo and Kemar Roofe won't be with us but they are progressing well and moving along really nicely.

"Ryan Jack was back in full training yesterday (Tuesday). He's had no reaction and Brandon Barker the same, he trained yesterday for the first time as well and had no reaction so they will both be with us for training this morning.

"But Cedric Itten had a bit of an issue with his knee in training yesterday that we're going to check out today. But he's a major doubt."

Gerrard has said the game may also have an influence on his transfer market activities before the window for moves closes on Monday.

Opponents Galatasaray also have their own selection issues to contend with as attacking playmaker Arda Turan is believed to be a major doubt for tomorrow night’s match at Ibrox and Colombian striker Radamel Falcao could be rested for the game, which kicks off at 7.45pm.
