The Zambian international’s deal with Belgian top-flight side Oostende is set to expire in June leaving him free to move elsewhere.
There has been strong interest from France, but according to reports in Belgium Sakala will make the switch to Ibrox.
Oostende offered the 24-year-old a new deal but the prospect of working with Steve Gerrard and playing Champions League football are major attractions for the player.
Sakala has had a strong season in Belgium, scoring 13 goals in 28 league appearances.
The forward moved to Europe in 2017, joining Spartak Moscow where he had a strong season for the Russian giant’s second string in the second tier.
Sakala will become Rangers’ first season signing as they look ahead to defending their league title next season and a return to the Champions League after impressive runs in the Europa League.
