Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told fans to enjoy Ryan Kent after his thrilling performance in the clubs’ 4-0 win over Willem II on Thursday night.

The attacker scored one and assisted another as the Ibrox side progressed to the Europa League qualifying play-off round where they will now face Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Kent continues to interest Leeds United with Marcelo Bielsa keen to add a player capable of playing as a winger and No.10.

The Argentine boss has been a long-time admirer of the 23-year-old.

If Kent was to leave Ibrox before the close of the transfer window a week on Monday, Leeds United are the most likely destination.

For Gerrard, it is just a case of enjoying the player who has been electric for most of the season.

Kent was questioned for a lack of numbers in terms of goals and assists last season. This campaign he already has five goals and two assists in all competitions and is well on his way to better his 2019/20 return.

Game changer

“From an attacking point of view, I think Ryan was the game changer for us tonight," Gerrard said.

“He does incredibly well running in behind and he has added that into his game this season. He gets us the penalty for the breakthrough and he is just a constant threat. He is so sharp and he has added a different dimension to his game.

“He is a pleasure to watch and coach and we just need to enjoy him.

“He has got the hunger and the desire and he is putting in the application to improve his numbers. As a coach and a manager and a group of staff, that is part of his development and we have seen that in him.

“The good thing is that the player has got the hunger to put big numbers in his game and he is aware of that. If he does, it certainly makes us a lot more dangerous as a team.

“He knows he is a big player for the club and knows the fans are all behind him. He knows that when he brings his best and his A Game that brings us an awful lot better chance to win.”
