Pundits explain what Rangers need to do better as Hamilton praised

The home side created the best opportunities with Allan McGregor forced into a save from Bruce Anderson. Rangers meanwhile barely threatened, with their best attempts coming from outside the box and not troubling Ryan Fulton.

Former Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson believes the team need to be more direct and play over the Hamilton press, recognising the excellent performance of Accies.

“Rangers haven't exploited that,” he said on Sky Sports. “They’ve gone man for man at the back, Hamilton. They’ve been brave and got rewards from it.

"At times Rangers have struggled to play out. Rangers need to miss out that press.

"Hamilton are playing 3 v 3 at the back. Put the balls down the sides, maybe a bit more from Itten and Hagi running in behind, stretch the game a little bit, get a little bit more ownership of the game.”

Kris Boyd called on the front three to offer more.

“The two full-backs have pinned Tavernier and Barisic and Rangers will need to up it in the second half,” he said.

“Ryan Kent and Ianis Hagi need to prepare to run in behind. Everything is coming to feet.

“Rangers need the forward players to run without the ball.”
