THE kite flown about the sale of naming rights for Ibrox has generated some much needed controversy. Rangers moved three times after being founded by four young students on Glasgow Green in 1872, stopping off at Burnbank and Kinning Park before arriving at Ibrox in December 1899.

For us – and our 66 Absent Friends – the home of the champions will always be known as ‘Ibrox’ – so if some corporation wants to bet millions that they can change that, my personal view is take their money and laugh in their face.

As for offering Sone Aluko a trial? I don’t think I’m alone in saying I saw nothing when he played for Aberdeen to suggest he’d add anything to a league-leading squad. It’s almost as funny as offering Freddie Ljungberg a contract...

On the international front, Croatia bringing on Nikica Jelavic and Eduardo as substitutes shows just how far off the pace Scotland are.
