SFA rap for apologetic Ricky Little after Queen’s Park defender’s Facebook jibes about injuring Rangers players

QUEEN’S Park defender Ricky Little received a censure from the SFA yesterday for his comments on a Facebook account when he “joked” with friends about injuring Rangers players including Kirk Broadfoot and Ian Black, writes Craig P Stewart.

The 23-year-old had been summoned to the SFA’s offices at Hampden over comments he made on the day Rangers were elected into the SFL on 13 July when he said: “I will apologise in advance to all my Rangers supporting friends – there’s a good chance I’m going to nail a couple of your players this season!”

A friend replied to say: “Break that **** Broadfoot’s legs”, with Little responding by posting: “First on the list mate!”

Little also advised that he “can guarantee a meaty challenge on Black”, and when his postings came to light, both the Spiders and the former Partick Thistle player were quick to offer an explanation and an apology.

But that did not save him from bother with the SFA, and Little was charged with allegedly breaching Disciplinary Rule 71 by not “acting in the best interests of Association Football” and in particular by posting on Facebook improper comments of a threatening nature.

After being represented by the club’s general manager, Christine Wright, and first team coach Gardner Speirs at yesterday’s meeting, Little has been informed of his censure, with everyone at the Third Division club happy that the incident has now drawn to a close.
