Rangers fans’ website ‘threats’ probed by police

ALLEGEDLY threatening and offensive comments on Rangers fansite Follow Follow aimed at one of the club’s directors are being investigated by police.

Remarks published on Follow Follow were reported to police by the club, which said the comments had placed a director and his family “in a state of fear and alarm”.

A Rangers FC statement said: “Rangers FC will not tolerate this and intend to take an extremely robust approach to this sort of behaviour.

“The board finds it inexplicable that so-called supporters of the club are bringing Rangers into disrepute by this appalling behaviour. These people are not welcome at Ibrox.

“The board is also aware that certain individuals are holding meetings and inciting fans to unruly behaviour. This has also been reported to the police.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that we are investigating a complaint regarding comments made on a social media site. Inquiries are continuing.”

Follow Follow describes itself as “the most popular Rangers forum on the internet”, where fans can discuss all aspects of the club and football.

It requires users to register with an email address, and provide their full name, address, date of birth and mobile phone number
