Rangers administration: Dundee United told not to expect £100k Ibrox cash

The Rangers administrator says it has no plans as yet to pay Dundee United the £100,000 they are owed for the Scottish Cup tie between the sides last month, writes Tom English.

Last week, the SFA wrote to Duff & Phelps advising it that failure to pay the monies owed constitutes a break of the competition rules. The club will face a disciplinary hearing at Hampden on 29 March.

In response yesterday, Paul Clark, of Duff & Phelps, said that there was little prospect of a resolution to this any time soon.

“At the moment we have made no commitment to pay it and there is no immediate intention to commit to paying it. We’re still in discussion with the SFA about it,” he said.

The news will not only anger Dundee United but it will dismay the SFA and will also mobilise its judicial panel in the event that the debt remains unpaid for much longer, which appears to be the likely scenario.

“It’s complex,” said Clark. “It’s something we need further talks with the SFA about. We also owe for other matches as well, we owe security people, we owe for some catering, we owe, we owe lots of people.

“If we could just pay everybody we owe we wouldn’t be in this situation.”
