No bonuses for Rangers squad or Ally McCoist

Although chief executive Graham Wallace could pick up a 100 per cent bonus on top of his annual salary of £315,000 - if he impresses in his first full year - he will also make an additional £25,000 as a result of the Ibrox club topping League One.

And McCoist, who took a 50 per cent pay cut earlier this season, said it had been a similar story last year when Rangers won promotion from League Two, adding: “It’s probably the only time I can remember it happening. It’s quite unusual.

“Our lads haven’t mumped and moaned about it. They’ve just got the job done, both last season and this season.”

The Rangers boss hit out at the turmoil surrounding the club, adding: “It’s frustrating that we’re doing our jobs but there still seems to be a lot of uncertainty surrounding the club. If we could go into next season with the fans and board in unison it would be the best thing for everybody.”

And McCoist revealed that he is likely to be handed a playing budget similar to this season. The Rangers boss said: “If we want to get a few in, there might have to be some departures too.”

The club have recently been linked with former striker Kenny Miller, as well as Kilmarnock forward Kris Boyd.

And both McCoist and hitman Jon Daly have spoken of the psychological pressure, with both looking forward to the summer break after a ‘mentally draining’ and ‘tough’ campaign.

McCoist said: “I don’t think I’ve ever looked forward to a break more after any campaign in my life. I didn’t expect it to be so mentally draining.

“A lot of the off-field stuff has a mental effect on you.”

And former Dundee United striker Daly echoed his manager, telling the Daily Record: “It has been really quite tough mentally. But that’s something over the season that the new boys have had to get used to.

“It’s a pressure I’ve never experienced before but it’s one that I’ve actually enjoyed. I’m looking forward to going again next year.

“It’s just the constant pressure of going out and having to win every game comfortably.”
