Nacho Novo signs for Morton

The Spaniard has signed a short term deal with the SPFL Championship side which runs until January.

The 34 year-old left Rangers in 2010 after six seasons with the Ibrox club to play for Spanish side Sporting Gijon.

He also spent six months in Poland with Legia Warsaw and had a spell with his home town team Huesco at the end of last season.

Novo returned this summer and had been training with Rangers and Kilmarnock. He had been hopeful of rejoining the Ibrox club however a deal from manager Ally McCoist was not forthcoming.

Morton sit bottom of the Championship however they did stun champions Celtic last month with an extra time victory in the League Cup.

The Spaniard’s agent, Alan Love, said: “Nacho has been made to feel really wanted by Morton who have pushed out the boat to make this deal happen.

“They offer him a platform to show what he’s got and Nacho is just determined to score goals again.”
