Goian is the latest first-team player to depart the Glasgow giants, who were voted into the Irn-Bru Third Division after being consigned to liquidation.

Maurice Edu also looks set to be heading for the exit door, with Stoke City believed to be interested. The American midfielder – who has not featured for Rangers this season – has also been weighing up a potential move to Ipswich.

Manager Ally McCoist faces a race against time to bolster his squad ahead of a 12-month transfer embargo, which comes into effect on 1 September. French

defender Sebastien Faure joined the club on a three-year deal yesterday subject to international clearance. The 21-year-old has spent the past week on trial at Murray Park following his release from Lyon in the summer.

Faure was also on trial at Leeds United before arriving north of the Border where has impressed McCoist in training. Faure, who was unable to play in last night’s 1-0 Ramsdens Cup victory at Falkirk, helped Les Bleus finish fourth in last year’s Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Colombia. He is McCoist’s sixth summer signing, joining Dean Shiels, Kevin Kyle, Francisco Sandaza, Ian Black and Emilson Cribari at Ibrox.
