Charles Green set to block Kenny Miller return

RANGERS Chief Executive Charles Green looks likely to block any attempt by Ally McCoist to bring striker Kenny Miller back to Ibrox for what would be his third stint.

According to the Daily Express, Miller’s representatives have held talks with the Green about a possible switch, but the Rangers chief has focused on signing players with a sell-on value, or who would command relatively low wages.

The Scotland striker is currently attached to MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps, but has hinted he wants a return to the country, and was loosely linked with a loan spell at former club Hibernian earlier this year.

Ibrox manager McCoist is understood to be keen to bring the former Celtic, Rangers and Cardiff striker back to Glasgow, but it appears Miller would have to take a substantial pay cut in accordance with Green’s wage structure.

Miller has previously claimed that there is ‘no doubt’ he would return to Ibrox, adding that Rangers ‘hold a strong place’ in his heart.

The forward would also have to negotiate an early finish to his deal with the Whitecaps in order to sign for Rangers when their SFA-imposed transfer embargo is lifted in September, if any deal was agreed.

The news is unlikely to mend the already brittle relationship between Green and McCoist, with the latter facing uncertainty over his signing targets after the departure of chief scout Neil Murray.
