'Just everyone enjoying the moment' - Bayer Leverkusen make fun of Rangers fans

The German side enjoyed their trip to Ibrox in the Europa League with a 3-1 win

Bayer Leverkusen took a huge step into the quarter-finals of the Europa League – if it gets played – with a commanding 3-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox on Thursday night.

The German side, fifth in the Bundesliga, displayed their class and superiority with goals from German international Kai Havertz, Chilean international Charles Aranguiz and Jamaican international Leon Bailey.

Leverkusen went 2-0 in front before George Edmundson gave Rangers hope. But it was the second strike which saw the German club’s official English Twitter account have a dig at the Ibrox club.

A media outlet posted a picture of the Leverkusen players celebrating the goal from Aranguiz with the topical caption: “Must be nice to celebrate goals in front of people...”

The club’s account quote-tweeted the remark and posted: “Not a phone in sight, just everyone enjoying the moment...”

In the background of the celebrations Rangers fans look on miserably with one supporter with his hands on his head and others expressing their feelings towards the away team.

However, Leverkusen’s third goal prompted a bottle and lighter to be chucked onto the Ibrox pitch. It could result in Rangers facing a Uefa probe.
