The controversial businessman faced the wrath of the Rangers squad after being vague with the players regarding when administration was going to be announced.

Then under the management of Ally McCoist, the team travelled through to Edinburgh for a friendly with Hibs aware that the news was coming but oblivious it would be that day.

It prompted a moment of hostility, according to Wylde.

“I didn’t have run ins with him [Craig Whyte] but he knew it was coming the day we went into administration,” he told the Football Daft podcast.

“We had a bounce game at Hibs, through in Edinburgh. So I went through, and we had our meeting before we left Murray Park, he [Whyte] said next week we were going to go into administration.

“And we saw it on Sky Sports News – ‘Rangers in administration’.

“But he never told us before we left. He never told us on the day. He said it was going to be next week, but he knew it was going to be that day.

“Greegsy (Allan McGregor) and that had a few words with him. It was hostile. It was a bit scary.

“He [Whyte] knew it was coming... so why didn’t he just come out face-to-face and tell us the truth and say it’s going to come out in the papers, in the news today, so be prepared for it… and we found out after the game.

“We met at Murray Park before we left to go to Hibs and he came in to have a meeting in the first-team changing room and told us [that administration would be next week] and we went on the bus to Hibs, played the game, I think it came out when we were playing during the game.

“Then after it we saw it on Sky Sports News, it had come out. The whole bus going back, it was silence, nothing.”
