Rangers are reported to be in “far-reaching negotiations” with Anderlecht for the purchase of Kemar Roofe.

The Belgian giants are happy to allow the striker to depart for Ibrox, according to HLN, due to financial reasons and the player’s injury issues.

Anderlecht signed Roofe from Leeds United for a fee believed to be between €6m-€7million last summer.

His arrival followed 14 and 15 goals seasons at Elland Road with his all-round game impressing Vincent Kompany who is manager of the Belgian giants.

Roofe’s scoring ratio was impressive with seven in 16 but he missed chunks of last season due to calf and ankle injuries.

It has been suggested Rangers could offer the player a four-year deal, however no price has been mentioned.

Roofe could be a replacement for Alfredo Morelos who is attracting strong interest from Lille, while a newspaper in Colombia has reported Serie A side Bologna are also keen.
