The HUGE probability Rangers will win Scottish Premiership ahead of Celtic, according to data experts

Neil Lennon’s men, who are on a run of just two wins in nine games in all competitions, trail rivals Rangers by 11 points with two games in hand.

The Ibrox side have yet to lose this season and have dropped points just twice in the Scottish Premiership, while they are in a strong position to make the knockout stages of the Europa League.

The differing form has been reflected in the view of fans, pundits and bookies that Rangers are strong favourites to win their first title since 2011 and put an end to ten in a row.

Statistical analysis company FiveThirtyEight produces a rolling Premiership prediction table. Not only does it outline how the league is expected to finish but the chances of winning the league, European qualification and relegation.

Rangers are forecast to finish the season on 97 points in their simulated season using their predictive model. Currently Steven Gerrard's side are on course to finish on 103 points.

FiveThirtyEight predicts Celtic will end ten points behind on 87.

But what is the probability of each team winning the league?

For ten of the teams in the league they have a less than one per cent chance.

The probability of Rangers lifting the title is a huge 80 per cent with Celtic given just a 20 per cent chance.

The pair are set to meeting on January 2. Before then both have six league fixtures to navigate.
