Celtic and Rangers progressed into the Europa League group stages with wins over Sarajevo and Galatasaray respectively.

it was a huge night for Scottish football with the country’s coefficient getting a boost, closing in on a potential automatic spot for next season’s Champions League.

On an individual basis, qualification is reported to be worth £10million each to Celtic and Rangers.

The duo will join 46 others in the draw.

When is the draw?

It is scheduled for 12pm this afternoon at Uefa’s headquarters in Switzerland. As with most draws, there could be a lot of faff before we get to what everyone is interested in.

Which pots are Celtic and Rangers?

Neil Lennon’s men received a substantial boost on Thursday night with all four of Copenhagen, Basel, Sporting and Wolfsburg exiting, allowing the Scottish champions to move into Pot 1 of the draw.

Rangers, now in their third successive Europa League group stages, are in Pot 3 with the likes of AC Milan and Feyenoord.

Who can Celtic draw?

Moving into Pot 1 means Celtic avoid most of the big names. However, in Pot 2 lies Brendan Rodgers' Leicester City as well as Real Sociedad who have signed David Silva from Manchester City. Pot 3 has the likes of AC Milan, Hoffenheim, plus familiar foes AEK Athens and Cluj. Some of the tricky teams in Pot 4 are Nice, Lille and Rijeka.

Can Celtic and Rangers draw each other?

No. Teams from the same nation are kept apart in the group stages.

When does the tournament start?

Celtic and Rangers will be back in European action on Thursday, 22 October for their first Europa League group stage fixture. They play again on 29 October and 5 November. Then on 26 November, 3 and 10 December.
