Leon Balogun, Borna Barisic, Glen Kamara, Kemar Roofe and Scott Arfield came in for the home side, with Jermain Defoe, Filip Helander, Ryan Jack, Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo dropping out.

Rangers fans were happy with what they saw, mostly.

@lewiswilliam31: “That bench is unbelievable, the squad has came on miles in the last 12 months.”

@velocitractor_: “Probably the strongest bench I’ve seen at Rangers in 10 years.”

@Garyjoyce07: “That’s a good team and it shows Morelos change your attitude and fight for your place as it is no longer guaranteed.”

Ryan Lindsay: “Happy with that team, and the strength we have on the bench should we need it. Think Morelos could benefit from a couple of games off. With Roofe, Itten and Defoe, he has real competition that I would hope would motivate him but he seems to be crumbling under the pressure and competition for a place.”

Lee Affleck: “If this was a year ago everybody would be moaning about Morelos being on the bench. Assembled a very good squad with plenty of options.. Mon the gers.”

@Stuart1872Rfc: “Big call resting Helander and Morelos, but still confident.”

Not all were though.

Jim Pratt: “Strong team but no sure about Roofe as the striker.”

But some were overly so. @RangersSpares__: “Announce @roofe scoring from kick off.”

And the South African fans of Bongani Zungu flooded the Rangers accounts with support for their midfielder too.

@Mdu_Nkosi24: “Sub Zuma on at half time!”
