The Englishman has revealed he was in contact with both clubs during a trip back to London earlier this week.

Warburton has utilised the loan market this season, bringing Dominic Ball and Nathan Oduwa from Spurs and Gedion Zelalem from Arsenal.

Warburton hopes to extend the recruitment policy to other English Premier League clubs with whom he established personal links during his time as a founder of the NextGen under-19 tournament for elite European teams.

“I was down at Spurs this week and also speaking with Arsenal,” said Warburton. “We deal with a number of clubs. There are a number of relationships. I’m very fortunate that the NextGen tournament was good for that.

“If you are playing at Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea or any big club, you want your first team players to play in front of 40, 50 or 60 thousand people. So we can replicate that at Rangers and I don’t think there are many other loan moves in the world which can replicate that type of playing experience. That’s a real plus for us.”
