The match will take place on July 6, two days prior to the conclusion of their training camp in Charleston, South Carolina.

Aside from having a name that sounds like a police report, the Battery play in the USL, which is the third level of American soccer.

The club has had a couple of connections to Scottish football before, with ex-Dundee defender Brent Sancho and former Motherwell winger Omar Daley among their former players.

Rangers manager Mark Warburton said: “We are delighted our pre-season program is now confirmed and we look forward to traveling to America in late June. We will enjoy 10 days of warm weather training in South Carolina and play Charleston Battery on July 6 before we return to Glasgow for the start of the 2016/17 campaign.”
