The Times are linking Hanley with a move to Ibrox after Blackburn Rovers suffered through a below-par campaign in the English Championship this term.

It is said the centre back would cost in the region of £3 million, which would make him the most expensive Rangers signing by far in the post-liquidation era.

He’s not the type of defender that would naturally fit into Mark Warburton’s build-it-from-the-back, patient-passing system, though the Rangers boss may be looking to add some steel and variation to his defensive corps ahead of their top flight return.

A far more likely target may be teenage Liverpool starlet Rossiter. The centre midfielder is a technically sound but tenacious player with a terrific range of passing.

He is expected to leave Anfield this summer after contract negotiations stalled. Manchester City and Tottenham are also interested, according to the Daily Mail, though Rangers appear to be leading the chase.
