Steven Gerrard is looking to add another option out wide before the close of the transfer window after seeing Jamie Murphy ruled out for the rest of the campaign with a knee injury.

He’s identified Dyer as the ideal target and wishes Rangers to negotiate a loan deal for the player, who remains on Reading’s radar after talks broke down with Swansea earlier this summer.

The 30-year-old is a former English Premier League winner from a loan spell at Leicester City. He made 13 appearances, scoring once, as Claudio Ranieri’s side shocked the world by finishing top of the pack in the 2015/16 season.

Dyer has been at Swansea since 2009, having previously played for Southampton, Burnley and Sheffield United.
